Fusion-io ioDrive Benefits

The ioDrive is the world's most advanced solid state storage solution with an extraordinary I/O performance at low costs. In many situations there are strong improvements:
  • Transaction Processing and Databases (as MS SQL or Oracle):
    • 100x faster response time
    • 10x the transactions/operations per second
  • Content Caching and Serving (as File and Web Server):
    • Host and serve 10x the content per server
    • Terabytes of virtual memory with near DRAM speeds
  • Virtualization:
    • Host 4x more virtual machines
    • Avoid service interrupts due to I/O contention
    • Save or resume virtual machine states in seconds
  • Media Handling:
    • Serve 10x more streams
    • No more waiting for loads and saves
    • Edit multiple high definition streams in real time
More benefits:

Very flexible
The ioDrive is seen by the host operating system as just another hard disk drive giving admins the ability to use the ioDrive for a varierty of uses from holding database tables to acting as the temp space for modelling applications.

Strong RAID performance
With the ioDrive, users are able to leverage any software RAID solution that uses the host operating system's native drivers. Plus, the ioDrive scales almost perfectly meaning the 4 ioDrives in RAID can maintain 2.8GB/s throughput.

Save on costs
The ioDrive is dramatically cheaper to buy (up to 95%) to any other device with similar performance and uses a fraction of the power.

High reliability
Most catastrophic failures in hard disk drives are the result of mechanical failures, causing total data loss. Because the ioDrive has no moving parts, it isn't subject to the same mechanical failures of traditional hard disk drives. When a NAND chip on an ioDrive begins to fail, the data is simply written to an adjacent NAND chip with zero data loss. The ioDrive uses strong ECC algorithms to ensure the safety of your data.
